FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE CONTACT: March 15th, 2007 - THE VESSELY CENTER OFFERS LATEST, SAFEST LASER ADVANCE WITH FRAXEL® II
PORTLAND, OREGON— The Vessely Center, for Laser and Aesthetic Medical Services, is one of the first in the nation to offer the Fraxel® SR 1500 laser (Fraxel® II). This newest generation of non-ablative lasers allows physicians to provide skin rejuvenation procedures that are both less intrusive and more precise and effective. For Michelle B. Vessely, M.D., medical director of The Vessely Center, this marks a significant achievement in laser resurfacing and skin rejuvenation.
"Fraxel® II is a remarkable advancement and has proven itself to be the unmistakable leader in aesthetic laser skin treatment," Dr. Vessely said. "I have seen unparalleled success with Fraxel® and my patients will undoubtedly be pleased with the results of
Fraxel® II." An additional benefit to the patient—Fraxel® II treatments are much more comfortable than treatments with the original Fraxel laser.
With FDA clearance just announced for a 70mJ setting, Fraxel® II can penetrate an unprecedented 1400 microns into the skin—deeper than any other skin resurfacing device in use today. With this technology, Dr. Vessely can customize treatments for multiple skin concerns ranging from wrinkles and sun damage to acne scars and melasma.
Fraxel® technology microscopically works on affected areas of the skin spot by spot, while maintaining the skin's protective outer layer. Its deeper penetration stimulates natural generation of new collagen to promote self-healing and remodeling, with less downtime. The Vessely Center, located at 6485 SW Borland Road in Tualatin, provides a full range of skin rejuvenation options including Fraxel®, Thermage®, JUVÉDERM™, Botox® Cosmetic as well as laser treatment for spider veins and hair removal. Aesthetic services include microdermabrasion, deep toning facials and peels.
Dr. Vessely is board certified by the American Board of Otolaryngology, and has practiced in the Portland area since 1994. Most recently, she presented at the 26th Annual Meeting of the American Society for Laser Medicine and Surgery, of which she is a fellow. THE VESSELY CENTER FIRST IN OREGON TO PERFORM NON-SURGICAL LIFT FOR EYELIDS
PORTLAND, OREGON --- A new generation of non-surgical cosmetic procedures is gaining momentum with the recent innovation from Thermage® for treatment of the upper and lower eyelids. Just as the release of the Thermage® eyelid tip was announced, Michelle B. Vessely, M.D., director of The Vessely Center, became the first physician in Oregon to treat a patient’s eyelids with the procedure.
“My patient was extremely pleased with the outcome,” said Dr. Vessely. “We were immediately able to see significant improvement in the eyelid area, which will continue over the next four to six months as collagen production increases.”
Thermage® stimulates and tightens existing collagen, through use of a patented radio-frequency device. When used on the eyelid area, Thermage® reduces hooding and softens fine lines and crow’s feet. The treatment session usually lasts an hour, with minimal side effects and no downtime.
According to Dr. Vessely, Thermage® and other non-invasive procedures such as Fraxel™ Laser Treatment have revolutionized the field of aesthetic medicine. “When used alone or combined, these technologies have allowed us to witness incredible results that at one time required sutures, pain and a lot of down time,” said Dr. Vessely. “This signifies a turning point in the lives of our active and vibrant population as access to safe and quick cosmetic renewal is better than ever.”
Dr. Vessely is board certified by the American Board of Otolaryngology, and has practiced in the Portland area since 1994. The Vessely Center offers a full complement of aesthetic medical procedures.

Local Doctor introduces new laser
treatment for aging and sun-damaged skin
7-19-05
Dr. Vessely reports that the Fraxel™
laser is specially designed to create thousands of microscopic thermal spots
that form vertical columns of treated skin tissue that are separated and
surrounded by unaffected, healthy skin. This innovative approach allows the
doctor to treat only a small fraction of skin at a time so it heals much faster
than if the entire area were treated at once. Moreover, and in contrast to
non-ablative laser/light therapies,
Fraxel™ Laser Treatment creates new epidermal skin in the
treatment zones within 24 hours.
"Fraxel™
Laser Treatment represents a whole new method of skin repair. It rebuilds
damaged skin like digital modification -- pixel by pixel, spot by spot,”
says Dr. Vessely who is one of the first in the Northwest to own the advanced
laser system. “Think of your skin as a family portrait or a digital
photograph in need of high-quality restoration or touch-up. A painting is
delicately restored one small area at a time, or a photo is digitally altered,
pixel by pixel. That’s the scientific principle behind
Fraxel™ Laser Treatment.
Safe and effective, the Fraxel™
SR laser is cleared by the FDA and has undergone extensive testing in the lab
and out in the field. Dr. Vessely says that based on her early clinical
experience, an effective treatment regimen generally requires four treatment
sessions, spaced about two weeks apart. Noticeable results are typically
achieved after the first treatment.
“In our practice, we have observed nice improvements in uneven skin color
and wrinkles around the eye area. The treated skin is smooth, soft and fresh.
In fact, our patients are so thrilled with how young and attractive they look
that their friends and family members are requesting
Fraxel™ treatment, especially when compared to other treatment
modalities that are associated with far more significant side effects,”
notes Dr. Vessely.
Other key advantages of
Fraxel™ Laser Treatment (FLT) are:
-
No scalpel, no stitches, no needles
-
No general anesthesia – FLT is well tolerated with a topical anesthetic
-
Convenience – the procedure takes about 30 minutes in the doctor’s
office
-
High safety and proven effectiveness on neck, chest and hands
-
Virtually no risk of complications or adverse events
-
Natural, youthful-looking results
Dr. Vessely has practiced in the Portland metro area for over 10 years. Dr

Skin Care Tips to Improve the Appearance
of
Sun Damaged Skin
April 28, 2005
Number one, of course, is to prevent further damage by the use of sun
block, hats, and avoidance of the sun at peak UV exposure times. And the
rest of this discussion assumes that you have no evidence of an actual
skin cancer. If that is the case, we may concentrate on improving the
appearance of the skin. Number two is to maintain a good skin care routine:
sunblock, cleanser, moisturizer, exfoliant, and finally use a topical
antioxidant such as Vitamin C serum, Vitamin C+E, CE Ferulic, or Prevage™.
Then the options need to be customized to the patient and his or her preferences.
Resurfacing is a fantastic way to remove sun spots, wrinkles and soften
the often thick and leathery feel that is commonly seen with severe sun
damage. Photodynamic Therapy (PDT) combines IPL with Blu-U and Levulan.
This treatment targets red and brown skin changes caused by chronic UV
damage. Improvement in pore size and skin texture is often noted as well.
PDT with Blu-U and Levulan is an FDA-approved treatment for actinic keratoses,
precancerous skin lesion. For less severe cases, a series of IPL treatments
may be all that is needed to freshen and improve the skin’s appearance.
Consider a consultation with Dr. Vessely to find out what would be the
best choice for your skin.
Early Signs of Skin Cancer
April 28, 2005
Although an annual skin evaluation by your general dermatologist is the
best way to detect skin cancer, you can help by regularly inspecting your
own skin. Note the size, color, location of any moles. Signs to watch
for would include rapid growth, irregular borders, irregular pigmentation,
and ulceration. Other skin changes that should trigger an evaluation by
your doctor include nonhealing lesions, scaling or scabbed areas that
don’t heal or do heal but recur quickly, and new “bumps”
or raised lesions. As with any other type of malignancy, it is much easier
to treat and cure when the lesion is detected early. Prevention is certainly
important, but much of the damage we see now was earned many years ago.
So, even if you are good about sunblock and skin protection now, you still
have the risk of developing a skin cancer. Avoidance of UV rays and monitoring
your skin are the key to reducing your risk of skin cancer.
Ce Ferulic
April 28, 2005
CE Ferulic is a revolutionary topical antioxidant combination that provides
unprecedented 8-times the skin’s natural photoaging protection culminating
more than 10 years research and testing. This latest antioxidant breakthrough
contains the original potent formulation of 15% pure l-ascorbic acid and
1% alpha tocopherol. However, the addition of ferulic acid, a plant-based
antioxidant, has transformed the formula, doubling performance of the
already powerful combination. This synergistic formulation provides unmatched
protection against UV induced erythema, free radical formation, and cellular
damage that results in premature skin aging. Daily application of this
cutting edge serum, along with the use of a broad spectrum sunblock, offers
ultimate protection from UV light and associated skin damage.
Prevage™ -- New Antioxidant Cream
February 7, 2005
Now available at the Vessely Center is the newest
in antioxidant skin care. Prevage™, 1-% idebenone, is available
exclusively in selected physician offices. Idebenone is reported to be
the most effective topical antioxidant product available. Due to its much
greater skin penetration, Prevage™ better protects the skin from
environmental hazards such as UV radiation, ozone, cigarette smoke and
air pollution. In a recent study, Prevage™ was applied twice a day
for six weeks. Results from the study indicated a significant reduction
in appearance of fine lines and wrinkles, skin roughness, and an increase
in skin hydration and overall global appearance of the skin. Call to find
out more about this exciting new product.
Dress for Success Accessory Drive
December 14, 2004
This holiday season, as we look forward to enjoying
friends and family, we are also reminded that there are many in the Portland
area who are not as fortunate. Please join Dr. Vessely and the staff at
The Vessely Center as we host an accessory drive to support Dress for
Success. This wonderful organization clothes low-income women in interview
suits, and provides ongoing support to help transition them to a new career.
Women are referred to DFS by non-profit and government agencies including
shelters for the homeless as well as for victims of domestic violence.
They have asked specifically for accessories this time (last year many
of you helped us with a suit drive!). Classic costume jewelry - simple
silver, gold, pearl earrings, necklaces and pins. Black, brown or navy
handbags. Scarves in all colors and patterns. And, of course, the ever
necessary Oregon accessory - umbrellas. If you have any of these items
to donate, please drop them by The Vessely Center during regular office
hours.
Micro Laser Peel
October 27, 2004
For those looking for a quick way to renew
and revitalize their skin, the Micro Laser Peel may be just the answer.
This novel laser procedure, done with only a topical anesthetic cream,
removes the dead epithelial cells and the very outer layer of skin cells
in a fast and almost painless treatment. The skin will be red and flaky
for a few days, but you’ll be ready for makeup in time to return
to work from a long weekend. And you’ll be looking refreshed. A
series of these treatments can really get you on the way to smoother,
more evenly pigmented skin, erasing fine lines and giving you back that
healthy glow you love to see in the mirror.
Announcing New Name for Practice
October 12, 2004
Dr. Michelle B. Vessely, M.D. announces a new name for her practice, The
Vessely Center. “We have been known as Laser Aesthetics for several
years, but the practice is much more than just lasers. We really are a
center for excellence in laser and other facial rejuvenation technology”
said Dr. Vessely in a recent interview. The Vessely Center provides all
the latest laser procedures for resurfacing the skin, treating wrinkles,
sun spots, leg veins, hair removal and tattoo removal. In addition, Thermage
and IPL have been very popular non-laser treatments targeting tissue tightening
and improvement of red and brown sun damage. Botox Cosmetic®, Restylane®
and collagen injections round out the medical treatments, while microdermabrasion,
facials and glycolic peels are offered by the trained medical professionals
and aestheticians at the Vessely Center. For more information, and a comprehensive
list of services offered, check out the new web site at TheVesselyCenter.com.
The Vessely Center Adds New Technology
October 12, 2004
Dr. Michelle Vessely has added the Sciton Profile laser to her practice.
With this laser, The Vessely Center adds a new dimension to the treatment
of leg veins. “The 1064 nm wavelength allows me to treat a broad
range of vessel sizes without painful sclerotherapy injections. Also we
are now able to treat patients with darker skin, or chronically tanned
skin” said Dr. Vessely of the addition of the Sciton laser. This
is beneficial since most women don’t notice their leg veins and
think about treatment until it is time to vacation in the sun. “Although
we still encourage our patients to think and plan ahead, we will be better
able to accommodate those who have had some sun exposure” commented
Dr. Vessely.
Interestingly, with the Sciton Profile laser, Dr. Vessely has also added
two new erbium resurfacing lasers to the practice. “We can now titrate
our skin resurfacing depth down to the level of microns, better targeting
a patient’s particular needs” said Vessely of the new laser’s
abilities. Whether patients choose a weekend recovery for a Micro Laser
Peel, or a true resurfacing with a week of down time and results rivaling
those of a CO2 laser, The Vessely Center can do it all with the Sciton
Profile. “I am very excited to add this equipment to my practice”
said Dr. Vessely. “ Having used both CO2 and erbium lasers for many
years, this is truly the best of both worlds. |
